About Us

          Bandon Coffee Café began as RayJen Coffee Roasters in 1995.  What started as a small espresso bar in the heart of Old Town Bandon had grown to include a bakery and coffee roaster in our current location by 1997.  Steve and Margaret Pounder purchased the retail café business in 2005, and RayJen moved its wholesale operation to a new location in Bandon.  Under their leadership, the café grew with expanded food and drink offerings and became a community-gathering place.

         In 2018, Kenny Maddux and Mara Rutherford purchased the café.  They were both previous employees of the café, Mara starting in 2011 and Kenny in 2014. Mara trained in Baking & Pastry Arts at Johnson and Wales University, and has used her training to expand the pastry and food offerings at Bandon Coffee Café.  Kenny is an experienced Barista and has brought his passion for great coffee and ability to fix anything to this venture.

         Our focus is on quality and freshness, offering the best possible items with a side of great service!  Our pastries, cookies and bagels are all baked on-site daily.  We use real butter and fresh eggs, and incorporate seasonal ingredients whenever possible. We make our breakfast and lunch sandwiches to order so that you can customize them and you’ll know you’re getting the freshest item possible.  All of our coffees are roasted in Oregon, some right here in Bandon.  We display the work of local artists on our walls, and happily support local causes throughout the year. 

We are excited to bring new energy to Bandon Coffee Café, and to offer new menu items along with longtime favorites. Bandon Coffee Café brought us together, and we hope to continue to bring the community together here by providing a welcoming atmosphere for all. Our customers often turn into friends, and we hope that you will too!
